This couple were an
important part of the GUMMETT children's growing up. Each summer
during the 1950's, 1960s and 1970s, Philip
Charles and Morfydd GUMMETT
would bring hoards of little GUMMETT children to descend on the peaceful
Rhymney valley of South Wales to cause mayhem and merriment. The
children would be split between Aunty
Gwen's, Aunty Nora's and Aunty Gwyneth's, sharing beds. Those at
Aunty Gwyneth's had the luxury of a proper bathroom, while those at
Aunty Gwen's would have to use a tin bath in front of the fire!
Also at Aunty Gwyneth's the boys got kippers for breakfast, because
"a man needs a proper breakfast!" |
