| The Gummett family always said that Gwen "made the best Cornish pasties in South Wales" | ||
|
Following a fall down the stone steps in Ogilvie Colliery, Gwen was found to be suffering from rheumatoid- and osteo-arthritis. These conditions worsened and for many years Gwen could only walk with the aid of crutches, and spent some years wheelchair -bound. A trip to Lourdes brought Gwen some relief, and astonishment to those who knew her... She returned walking unaided! Gwen enjoyed a couple of blissful years in this "crutch-free" condition before requiring their assistance again during her final years. She was a woman of enormous faith and never doubted that God could make her well - if He so willed. |
